...before the hire? Boston Herald's just scratching surface, if they really want to dig there's more.

Am sure they did but they figure he can get ratings, especially perhaps because of the publicity. "Say what you want about me, just spell my name right."

The selection of Michael Graham...."Graham as in Crackers" is a real slap in the face to all the local talk talent in this community. I know at least ten local individuals both liberal and conservative in the Boston area who would do more than a creditable job. But no, Greater Media hires someone from Maryland who has to fake it that he knows what is going on here and his national political rants are just a bad imitation of other conservative talkers with talent.

Greater Media just "dissed" the Boston broadcasting community with this less than stellar selection. I wish them well at 96.9. They are good and decent people at that station and at Greater Media but this pick just doesn't make any sense - long term or short term. Just my opinion.

will be great for about 2 weeks, long term, not so good

Graham's background was checked...

He is a perfect fit for 96.9. Fast paced, controversial, current and not
the slower pace that Howie has. Now they just have to bump out Barnicle,
the plagarist. Perhaps, cut an hour out of Imus and run Laura from 9-Noon
(live) they O'Reilly Live Noon-2, then add an hour to Egan and Braude
2-4, then Graham 4-7, Severin 7-10, Hannity 10-1, maybe Barnicle overnight
if they are stuck with his contract? May not be totally live and local
but listenable and likable.

Mike Barnicle: WTKK's Best Asset And Link to Washington

Are you sure you are not listening to some old tapes of Jay Severin? Graham Crackers goes good with milk and sleepy-time radio. That is something any Glicknick would appreciate. The "story, behind the story" is that Mike Barnicle is 96.9's door to any national politics and politicians. If General Media loses Barnicle they might as well go back to 'Smooth Jazz' which in an of itself may not be a bad idea. Sorry, but Mike Barnicle puts this station on the national stage if at all. Graham is just a second stringer and belongs back on the farm team.

Re: Graham's background was obviously not checked...

again, if he couldn't get arbs in the home turf, why would it work in Boston???

Graham helped WMAL ratings collapse, now UP after he left, the Boston papers are given a rare treat, the easiest punching bag ever..

I agree--and might I add faster pace than Severin

yes, and your other suggestions are good but at this point is WTKK
picking up Severin? I do get the feeling he's heading for WBZ
and WTKK is simply paying and benching him for the rest of the year.
Once 1/1 rolls around, Infinity can officially lay claim to him.

Re: Graham's background was checked...

None of this stuff - the WMAL incident, the firing from Charleston, etc. - was secret. It was known to anyone who accesses radio trade magazines and websites. What, you think Greater Media doesn't read AllAccess or can't check the archives of DCRTV?

The OP makes it sound like the Boston Herald did great investigative work, when it was information known to me in my Ohio home. :D

It's funny to see Graham paint the Herald as part of the "liberal media", though.
