Did Hot 99.7/Yakima drop Full Throttle Radio?

I enjoyed the syndicated Full Throttle Radio with host Fatman Scoop every Saturday night on Hot 99.7 in Yakima. It is a high energy mix show with the hottest rhythmic and rap hits. It seems HOT has moved more towards pop since Stephens Media bought them. I should say the poppiest sounding rhythmic and less rap. Instead of playing a lot of new hip hop like they used to you'll hear things like 5 year old Nick Jonas songs. Full Throttle helped me keep up with the current hip hop no longer heard in this market.

Because Hot has been playing less rap I have been fearing they would drop Full Throttle. Maybe I thought about it too much because my fears manifested themselves this week as it wasn't on. I was hoping it was some type of technical issue and it will be back on next week. But what they were playing made me think they really did dump the show.

They were playing some type of gold based uptempo party mix. Songs included Outkast-Roses and a real oh wow song from Cheech and Chong about Santa Claus. I listened for at least 20 minutes and this new show was not produced whatsoever. It had no name, no sweepers, no jock, no station identification...it was nothing but music. Maybe it's a work in progress?

My biggest fear is that HOT dropped Full Throttle and moved more towards pop as a result of all the shootings and violence we have had in Yakima recently. I remember in 1991 when WLUM/Milwaukee dropped most rap in response to a local school shooting. They felt responsible which I felt was outrageous. They had excellent ratings when they played rap but as soon as they dropped it their ratings plummeted. This made me so happy that I cried tears of joy. I would consider the WLUM ratings drop of 1991 to be perhaps one of my very favorite moments of life itself (I guess I haven't had much of a life lol). They soon switched formats to alternative which they are still doing to this day.

Meanwhile WLUM not playing rap has has no influence whatsoever in Milwaukee crime rates as they consistently have one of the highest murder rates per capita. Most of today's murderers in Milwaukee weren't even alive 30 years ago when WLUM played rap...they have no concept of it. Yet they still grew up to be stone cold killers. Same thing here... Yakima will stay crime infested with or without Full Throttle Radio.

Of course

Never mind. It's back on this week. Must have been a technical issue last week. I think I was traumatized by what WLUM did in the 1990s and this made me too defensive. I should have given it another week before I wrote my tirade. Anyway, I am really enjoying tonight's show!
