Did I miss something? WKLG

I never hear Star 102 in Miami Lakes...always cut off by other stations. Usually can't get it until I'm in South Kendall.....however....WKLG was BOOMING into Miami Lakes on Nov 27th around 6pm. Did they change towers? Any CPs we didn't know about? Or was it just a good night for 102.1 FM?

Also, when did they change to Country? Their selection reminds me of the 2000s....I'm totally digging it!

I suspect you witnessed a phenomenon such as an inversion layer or the like. There are no upgrades pending.

There are quite a few “good nights” for WKLG in Broward/Dade. Star 102 was a fairly frequent regular on my car radio at night (and many days) up in Hollywood. Loved them for their oddball selection of 70’s-80’s rhythmic tunes they’d sprinkle in. Definitely nothing that was being played on South Florida radio. The country is a new one to me...it was the same quirky AC station then. What always fascinated me was I’d never hear commercials (or really any production besides the legal ID) during my listening at night.

The South Florida metro is one of those places due to the packed FM band and near daily propagation issues, a good DX is picking up WKLG from Rock Harbor up in Broward or a class C station from Ft. Meyers. Maybe if you’re lucky, one of the more powerful Lower Keys stations. My best was Radio Marti when it was up in the plane on 94.3...and that was only 130-150 miles (approx) as the crow flies!
