Today I happen to check out the hillman show for a bit, and they were playing a clip of a recent mel gibson interview. When it was over, gibson didn't know he was still micd and he muttered the word a$$hole. It was clear as day. Greg actually said it a few times after while talking about it. I could have sworn that you weren't aloud to say that on air. Just curious

I heard it on another station, and it was -partially- bleeped. It wasn't graphic talk: it's a station's choice as to whether to not edit. Would WBZ do it? No.

this might have nothing to do with it or not but when Howard was on regular radio he and his crew would say it many times without any problems o n a as well!!

Working on Greg's show, I can attest to that audio - we can air that audio without fear of repercussion.

I don't think it's repercussion from Mel's flack people here are worried about... it's repercussion from the FCC that we're concerned with!

Don't get me wrong, I am pleasantly surprised there were no repercussions. Legal or not, I definitely would not get away with saying it on my show

Assuming it was aired outside of "safe harbor" times (10pm to 6am), it could be classified as "indecent", should someone file a complaint with the FCC. The official definition is: language or material that, in context, depicts or describes, in terms patently offensive as measured by contemporary community standards for the broadcast medium, sexual or excretory organs or activities.

"A$$hole" is not one of the original "seven dirty words you can never say on television (or the radio)", nor in the later three that were added by Carlin. But nevertheless, I think it'd be considered among them should anyone file a complaint.
