Did Jay Severin's "Bastard" Remark Remove Him From The Air Today?

C

Casablanca

Guest
Yesterday, Jay Severin called Hillary Clinton a "Bastard". Today, Friday he is AWOL from TKK.
Wonder, was the Secret Service contacted because of his near threatening remarks.
Maybe he had an emergency meeting with his shrink.

Haha...ooohhh...hahahahaha....stop it...oh my god...I think I'm gonna pee myself...near threatening remarks...where do you come up with this stuff??? With comedy like that, maybe you can fill in for the striking TV writers.

Yeah, Severin was deadly funny....like Alan Berg late of KOA in Denver in reverse. Look it up in your Funk & Wagnal!

You disagree politically... period. Stop with the implications that him calling her a "bastard" (which is stupid) is a threat. You know it wasn't. grow up.

I think it's hight time for an intervention here. Obsessive??? Compulsive???
Is Jay responsible for the "voices in your head"???

As Gerald Jacoby used to say ..... "THEY'RE OUT THERE.......THOSE DRUMS ARE DRIVING ME CRAZY.......I GOTTA GET OUTTA THE BUSINESS!!!!"

Dr Bluesdude

Gerald Jacoby [related to Jacoby Elsberry?] was sane which is more than can be said for James Severino.

That's why I don't listen to him. He has nothing of substance to bring to the table - it's all over the top hyperbole which he hopes will get him attention. 96.9 is on a pre-set in my car, and when his voice comes up I immediately switch. Time to change the pre-set because his voice is aggravating.

Gerald Jacoby [related to Jacoby Elsberry?]

I think you can probably assume that he isn't related to Jacoby Ellsbury, the baseball player, either.

Glad to be of service.

Regards,
TSB

BTW Gerald Jacoby started out to be a professional baseball player in New York City.

Could be. But baseball player Jacoby Ellsbury's name will always be correctly spelled as Jacoby Ellsbury. You'd be surprised, but getting the little things right the first time often leads to eventually getting the big things right the first time. The mental discipline becomes, if you will, habit forming. You may want to consider giving it a shot.

I believe the Emerson quote you are looking for is actually.....

"A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds" , the adjective 'foolish' being key.

You may have been thinking, assuming you do, of the supposed Mark Twain remark "I don't give a damn for a man that can only spell a word one way", but he wasn't referring to proper names, and the quip was probably tongue-in-cheek.

Another good observation is "getting the little things right the first time often leads to eventually getting the big things right the first time". I don't remember who said it, but he obviously knew what he was about.

Regards,
TSB.

I prefer the Samuel Clemens retort, "Reports of my death were grossly
exaggerated."
And I know I gave you the short-hand version of the Emerson quote but the intent was the same. When did you join the Word Police force?

Sorry Casa, but the difference between "Consistency..." and "A foolish consistency..." is significant. It changes the entire meaning of the phrase.

Personally, I'm kind of curious to see how long it's going to take for you to get tired of being taken to the woodshed by TSB and just go to the trouble of getting it right the first time. He's obviously not going away. He's got the time. He's extremely persistent.

And, you're obviously capable of it, so come on, go for it. Don't just rant and rave. Don't try to deflect attention by attacking him.

Play ball. :)

Yes, and I suffer fools less than I did 10 years ago. I will add you to my list.... :)

Well, I guess that would be pretty apropos if you were referring to your previous predictions.......

"WRKO better cut it losses now. Howie Carr will never be behind a WRKO mic again as long as it is owned by Entercom."
"Do not think that you will ever hear Howie Carr on WRKO again."

"Entercom seems to have made all the mistakes...that is a real surprise. Now, they should live with their actions or inactions[/color]

And I know I gave you the short-hand version of the Emerson quote but the intent was the same. When did you join the Word Police force?

Unless you're trying to make it meaningless, there is no 'short-hand version' of Emerson's quote; in fact, using quotation marks implies it's a direct lift. On the bright side, you now know from whom it came. It's nice to learn something new every day. And it's also a time saver. With you, there's never enough time to get it right, but there's always enough time to explain why you got it wrong.

Well, Emerson hasn't said or written anything new since 1882, so I'm not sure how our respective ages pertain, since this is not exactly age-sensitive material. I'm not sure that someone had to be present at the cemetary to be familiar with the Gettysburg Address.

On the other hand, you may have had occasion to read Emerson, but don't remember much since you spent most of the time pondering the more important questions about his two wives and those mash notes he wrote to Walt Whitman.

TSB

If I remember correctly, Walt Whitman did not have any wives but perhaps many long-time companions in those 'leaves of grass'.
