Did K253AN (KOKE) upgrade?

Seems like they are riding over KBBT more than they use to. I can still get KBBT OK with my directional antenna, but why didn't k253an try to apply for a empty frequency like 94.3? That would of made them pretty good even for me outside of Austin to pick up.

There are existing translator applications for 94.3 that are and have been in gridlock for a while. So that frequency is not available, at least not right now.

98.5 does have a construction permit to up the power from 50 watts to 80 watts and move up in total height. Sounds like they may have it up and running.

How about 103.9? 97.5? 95.9? 105.5? Oh yeah, and I don't think this is possible, but 87.7 or 87.9?

>How about 103.9?
Too close to the new KBEY 103.9 in Burnet

>97.5?
North Austin aready picks up KWTX-FM 97.5 Waco pretty well

>95.9?
Issues on the south side with digital hash from SA's KMMX 96.1.

>105.5?
North Austin picks up KUSJ 105.5 from Killeen market

Those are out of the FM band. An analog LPTV could have audio on 87.75 but I don't know if the FCC is granting any new analog applications.

There are actually two stations on 87.9 in the U.S., one near Los Altos, California, and the other in the Reno, Nevada market. Both low power.

With most of the RF TV channel 6 stations gone, you would think the FCC would start authorizing more FM stations on that frequency.

87.9 wouldn't work in the Austin market anyway because of 88.1 KNLE.

The way the FCC works with translators I wouldn't be surprised if they would allow 87.9 into Austin.

As an Alex Jones pirate, LOL! Buenos Dias, Liberty Radio 87.9 !!!! ;D

The pirate on 90.1 will have to move again if the 90.1 licensed to Thorndale ever comes on the air.

Did we mention the pirate feeds cozy enough to have a web site

You can't miss it on the #3 bus, it has a sign out there that says "Ron Paul 2012" by the Mazda dealership.

I would. Only a non-commercial class D FM (and there are none in or near Austin) or a non-commercial translator can be on 87.9 and, even then, only after being displaced from another frequency when no alternative frequency was available. I don't think Austin has more than two non-commercial translators, and, if either were to become threatened, they'd have to prove they couldn't find another spot, wouldn't interfere with KNLE, and could be ordered off-air if they got interference complaints from KNLE listeners.

KUT 90.5 always cuts into Simply Beautiful 91.3, to bad I can't complain about it and order KUT off-air!!! Yes I like Simply Beautiful's music reminds me of KYND FM 92.
But it is not the next adjacent like if someone were to translate on 87.9. The Candle KNLE is good too I like their Christian Rap music, I am not too far away from the Candle's studios on Research near Oak Knoll.

Not yet, but it is in the works. Maybe another week or so.
