The Great Depression was the era of light-hearted comedies and musicals. The very last thing audiences wanted to be reminded of was MONEY. They wanted escape.
Did this very rudimentary level of social insight elude the suits at Bonneville? "Yeah, people losing their homes, losing their jobs...well, why WOULDN'T they want to be reminded of that every night?" I mean, seriously...is that what was going through their heads?
Am I wrong in wondering why KTAR hasn't reconsidered Hendrie? It seems like a no-brainer. Once the economy gets better, I'm even-more pretty sure people won't want to be reminded of that every night. IIRC, KFYI added Savage after KTAR dropped Hendrie.
