Did Regent shoot itself in the foot with WJLT and not realize it?

Given that we have seen a ton of flips from oldies recently including two VERY BIG Stations with one of them right up US 41 North in that city that is so "windy", one must ponder: Did Regent make a move that wasn't exactly thought out with 105.3 by going oldies? Oh sure you'll argue that "Josh, we hear more 70s on Oldies 105.3 then we do on most". But 70s were a pretty big thing on WCBS and Magic 104.3 and look what happened there: they got JACKed. Besides, the oldies demo is aging. And today's kids ain't la la la la with Motown and the Beatles. Now I will state with a sure fact that Evansville won't have a Jack FM, in fact they missed the Jamming Oldies train and 80s only exists because of the high school station and that's a after 3PM and weekends deal and to be honest that was a fad format 5 years ago. Classic hits was already tried on 107.1 and flopped.

So, with 105.3 basically living on borrowed time(and the fact that it isn't in such a progressive area that might be demanding a change) what do you all see happening at 105.3? <P ID="signature">______________

I'd like to see GBF moved to 105.3, so the station could be heard from more than 2 blocks away from the stick. Give GBF a real signal at 105.3 and move WJLT to 103.1. If it's going to be Regent's least important station, it should have the weakest signal.

Regarding WJLT (wherever it is on the dial), I don't really know that any other format would work substantially better than Oldies. If there's any decent-sized market that will support Oldies long after the nation has abandoned it, it's Evansville.

But if you really want to change, Jack would be an interesting experiment but probably wouldn't have staying power. Country, rock, and AC are all done to death in this market already. The only other new (to the market) format worth trying would be Smooth Jazz. Might be difficult to pull some jazz fans away from WUEV's jazz shows, but it would be nice to have Smooth Jazz on the air 24/7 around here.

If not Oldies or Jazz, there's always Radio Disney!

I've done some research in Evansville radio (seeing as I live hear that would make sense), but I reccomend the "chill" format from NYC. It's found on WQCD-101.9 NYC. It used to be a smooth jazz, but transformed into more. You can learn more at cd1019.com or wqcd.com.
