Did Serene Branson Suffer a Stroke?

Carmine5 said:
..or was she heavily medicated while doing her post Grammy report?
I'd think, interviewing celebs on the red carpet, she'd have to be. If she wasn't they'd have to play that song ...

"One of these things is not like the others"

:D ;)

KCBS doesn't say what happened but it apparently wasn't a stroke.

KCBS stonewalling this whole incident only makes it look worse. I notice they forced the L.A. Times to remove the clip of her meltdown and Serene has not been on the air the last couple of days. I suspect she took a prescription med and perhaps washed it down with a glass of wine before going live. Saw it happen before to a reporter I was working with. Fortunately we weren't live and she was able to finish her report with a little rest and a few takes.

But the way KCBS is handling this episode makes it appear that Serene may have a prescription med abuse problem and needs counseling. Hey, she's not the first reporter to experience a meltdown like this and she certainly won't be the last. It happens.

Serene may not have had a stroke but suffered a condition known as Wernicke's aphasia in which a person may speak in long sentences that have no meaning, add unnecessary words, and even create made-up words. The condition can sometimes clear up on its own but generally involves some form of therapy.

According to a medical dictionary: "Aphasia is a condition that is the result of damage to portions of the brain. It can be caused by stroke, head injury, brain tumor, or infection."

Given that her profession involves effectively and coherently communicating with others Serene needs to identify the cause and begin treatment immediately.

With all due respect to Ms Branson and her condition, the way KCBS handled this whole thing was as though it was one giant publicity stunt. Promo after promo during prime time last Thursday night. Overkill and Ridiculous!

At first the tactic was to stonewall the incident and bully the L.A. Times into taking the video clip off it's website--KCBS obviously hoping it would all blow over. But after Serene's Grammy mishap ended up on YouTube, went viral and sent media outlets across the country into a feeding frenzy speculating as to what happened, KCBS has little choice but to make the best of a bad situation and turn her interview with Pat Harvey into a 'must see' moment. I can't blame them for doing it. Serene Branson, reluctantly, became national news.

Yes perhaps, but I think that they went too far in that direction
