Did the Greaseman show ever play in the Knoxville area?

I remember when His show was in Atlanta in the Mid 90s. I enjoyed His show then, thought it was funny(migh have been the only one! :D )

Not that I'm aware of. I used to listen to the Greaseman when I would go see relatives in Jacksonville during the mid-70's when he did morning drive for WAPE-AM 690. I know that he went to Washington, D.C. in the '80's and made National news several times for insentive and racial comments he made, but I pretty sure he was never on the airways in Knoxville. Just like Howard Stern, I don't think he would have gone over in Knoxville.

Yes and no.

Doug Tracht himself was never on the air here, but Brother John St. John vacationed in Florida once and came back with half his act.

The copying even included the phrase "zonies" which referred to inhabitants of a certain electoral zone in Jax, but meant absolutely nothing in Knoxville. Much of the stuff you heard BJSJ do on boogie check came straight from greaseman's morning show.

Maybe not, however I have to admit that back when "Shotgun Stevens" did nights on WOKI back in the mid 80's he pushed the envelope pretty far on the air at times.

Both Brother John St. John and Shotgun Stevens were doing evenings/nights, where you could get by with more risque humor and such than you could in morning drive, where the Greaseman's show was always aired in other markets.

The flip side of that is once when Stern did an April Fool's joke where he supposedly was taken off the air for something sappy, his sappy show replacement was based on "something you'd hear in Knoxville."

In the mid 90s The Greaseman was on During the Morning on Z-93 in Atlanta.
