Did the sunspot do that?

Just turned on the radio, expecting to hear the usual noise and interference on 15720 KHz, that I usually get on RNZI. I'm using a 36" piece of wire as an indoor antenna.
Surprisingly, I am getting a pretty good signal...a small amount of rapid flutter fading, but it's perfectly readable. Weird thing, I'm hearing exactly the same thing on 15715 and 15725.
Very unusual! I wonder if the huge sunspot a few hours ago has anything to do with it.

Conditions have gradually gotten better over the past few months. I heard the VOA broadcasting to East Africa in English last night, transmitters in Botswana, acc. to EiBi. On my Grundig G2, off its whip. That's a pretty good catch for me. Two years ago it would have probably been impossible.
