Did WEEI PEAK THE DAY THE RED SOX LOST?

Wonder if the surge in WEEI's ratings will slow or stop now that the Red Sox are out of the Division/ World Series race.

Don't think the Patriots and their slumping season will be enough to hold the rating.

Discuss.

In the past, WEEI-850's ratings have always gone down once baseball season ends, only to rise again in the Spring.

This year will be no different.

At the same time, though, there's only so much about disapointing sports teams that can be discussed. The Patriots and the (Red) Sox existed a few years ago, but they were no where as successful as they have been in recent years. Similarly, WEEI has been on the air since 1991, yet did not become #1 in 12+ until our sports teams became continually successful.

Who wants to discuss continual losses? WEEI's ratings have nowhere to go but down.

There will probably be a small lull for three weeks until the free agency filing period begins, then the hot stove talk should heat things up again. If the Sox put Manny on irrevocable waivers again (which is likely) that will give them another week of talk. The Bruins are back in action, the Celtics are starting up, and the Patriots just came up with an emotional win. EEI won't have the peak ratings of baseball season, but they won't drop all that much, especially if the Pats are in the Super Bowl hunt all the way into January.
