Did WHKC Wig Out Today?

Tuned in between 8:45 and 9:00 this morning and heard music behind a commercial/infomercial. Then, toward 2:30 this afternoon, there was a talk program airing. At 3:00, it was back to all music.

Did the computer take a dive or are they trying to cut over to the talk format? Whatever it was, it sounded horrible until it was back to all music.

Who's got the scoop?

Are their any humans behind WHKC now? I don't recall a DJ since Rob Case would come on the air on the weekends. Seems to me it's all syndication and automation. Then again since they stopped playing mostly 80s, I stopped listening, so what do I know. ;)

I dont know who is running WHKC now but its automated Christian AC music with a legal id that airs anywhere between 04: and 15: past the hour ontop of whatever song playing.

Well then, who ever is running it, apparently doesn't listen to their own station, or maybe running a tight broadcast is low on their list of priorities at this time. ???

You think? LOL!

Lets see, it is basically an iPod on a stick...yeah, I think they don't worry about how "tight" it sounds. LOL!

They are running selected programs in place of music from time to time...

http://compassionradio.com/ListenerSearch/index.asp
: OH City: Columbus Call Letters: WHKC On the Dial: 91.5 FM Schedule: M-F Broadcast Time: 2:00 PM
Program: " " Station Notes: New to the market

They are running this program at 2:00pm weekdays! (I hear it on right now).

When their not running programs they are just the automated music with a legal ID near the TOH ontop of whatever is playing.

The ID's wraping their ministry programming call their station "91.5 Freedom FM" They also run Truth For Life Alistair Begg at 2:30pm Weekdays.

I'm starting to wonder what we're seeing WHKC morph into...because it seems as though they are before our very eyes.

They're also running programs during morning drive. I'm not sure, but I think they may be repeats of what they're airing in the afternoon slots.

"Freedom FM"? What's up with that??

With Case gone, wouldn't it make more sense to sell the station to people who know how to run it? Sell it to WOSU so we can keep classical music on the air.

I said it before and I'll say it again...it will come out as a talk/teaching station which I believe will be owned and run by Cedarville University...is that "The Path"? I don't know but I for sure see Cedarville in the future.

I know this much: I'm going to enjoy the WIDE variety of music I'm hearing on there for as long as I can. After that, I'm afraid I might have to break down and invest in an iPod or Sirius.

Considering American Family Assoc. has an CP to build a full power station on 88.1 ( http://www.recnet.com/cdbs/fmq.php?facid=91538&jaws=0 ) that will be located near darbyville in Pickaway and licensed to Grove City that would make sense as their translator at 88.1 would be displaced, I could easly see WCDR either purchasing or LMAing some how WHKC for "The Path"

I do have to agree with the one poster, I love their mix of music, they have a lot of classics you dont hear any where else in CCM. It's refreshing and will stay a preset in my car until they change to something else.

If they want easy money just LMA the thing to K-Love. That's all that Vern Baldwin does with his FM stations and he sits back and collects the checks.
