Did WNDZ-750 in Portage, ind......

raise their daytime power recently? If so, WNDZ's signal seems to be much stronger than before here in West Allis, Wis., a suberb of Milwaukee. Please post and let me know. Thanks in advance.

This hasn't been recently, but a few years ago, they were audible in the greater Indianapolis are...now, they are totally gone here. Radio-Locator.com shows they have a CP for 15KW Days that results in much less signal to the south. Apparently, they're using this now.

Then you're the perfect one to answer this question...why the null toward indy? Is it protecting something down here or is it just to push more signal where it can be more useful?

When Hal Munn found that frequency for my partner and I (Annie Antich) it was to be a Merrillville station. That was a growing, underserved area. None of us wanted to compete with all the Chicago signals.

They WANT a Chicago radio station.

I owned 2 stations in Rensselaer 1 in Winamac, and 1 in Columbia City. Merrillville would have been very nice for us.

In about 1983 or thereabouts, we "got a FABULOUS offer we couldn't refuse" and the buyer moved it to Portage, perfectly ok with the fcc.

That station had a phenominal signal, listenable in Milwaukee and Indianapolis. They paid us nearly a million dollars for a piece of paper that we paid less $10 thousand for.

That was the start of "changing my mind" and by '85 I sold everything else for 1.3 million. 22 years later, I'm VERY glad I did. I'll be glad to tell you more if you contact me, privately.

I'm curious as to why the null toward Indy. I doubt it's to protect Atlanta in the daytime...although the direction is about right.

The listeners in Rensselaer and Winamac have suffered radio "dentistry" ever since!

Radio dentistry= old magazines in the waiting room with steak recipes ripped out by Tony Soprano, staring into a bright light, a napkin on a chain around your neck.

Dentist picks around with the "sharp stick" in your mouth. Here is the laser drill. Open wide, please.

Now, please spit into the bowl! (rinse)

Say what you mean, instead of bad attempts at humor or are you just excited that you have hbo?

I DID say what I meant. If YOU are "out of the loop", maybe the message is not for you.

A FAMILY (John's brother) is a GREAT thing. This happens to be a free country, where people have a right to do anything that's legal. Matt sounds jealous to me.

By the way Matt, where did the money come from to buy the station s YOU own?

You are right, family is a good thing and so is livin' in the USA and doing legal stuff too. ;)

Isn't that Renssalaer station WRI? 1560 on 231 on the north side of town, near Bazz's roller rink/custard stand?

I used to have be able hear them in Hobart on a good day.

Wasn't my point at all...but doesn't surprise me that it was lost

It was meant for anyone who has listened to or work for those stations

I dunno about you but a dentist and a guy who couldn't run a Hardees make great radio owners. Proof in the sound
