When they first signed on, into the summer months, they were playing many tracks other stations never touched in the market for years. They also broke new music and played some punk and older hard alternative tunes. Since the holidays they have been so predictable and boring, playing the same DMB, BNL, Greenday and the other safe staple bands that you can hear anywhere. Why is this, with YSP entering the rock game concentrating on MMR's list and listeners, WRFF can be totally different and unique instead of bland and safe, is the new PD or the female having something to say, they should of left the station as it was in its infancy, instead of messing with a good thing, now they really stink.....

You know, I'm wondering how soon the same will be said about New York's new "RXP". Sure, the playlist is wide and daring now, but I wouldn't be surprised if they turned into another cookie-cutter corporate rocker.

I've found RFF to be more palatable now than it was when it started.

I can't really put my finger on it, but I perk up and take notice when they take chances with stuff like Silversun Pickups, Muse, etc. They seem to be doing that more lately, although I honestly haven't been listening as much as I was when they first went on.

Same here. Of recent, they've been playing more out-there stuff, though theres still the alt rock staples and occasional song by "Train" still there.

At various times today, I heard them play new music from Sonic Youth, Radiohead, Band Of Horses, while also hearing This is Radio Clash, Rock-n-Roll High School, She Sell Sanctuary, and the Eels. yeah, we still hear some of the Hot AC stuff, but every time I think they may be getting a bit predictable I hear something old/new. (Hear the Pixies yesterday)

If anything, it sounded more "pop" when it started. They were heavy on the Nickelback/Creed/Hinder and other Hot AC-leaning acts with only very safe new tracks. They still lean that way now but at least they've taken some steps in the right direction.

I'm with the other posters here. RFF sounds really good, which is probably why other markets are trying to copy them.

Great mix of decades and styles and surprises. I will be interested to watch how they keep the station sounding as fresh as they do. Personally, I would love to hear some more G Love or bands like Phish, Big Heat Todd or Ben Harper, but otherwise, they sound really good.

I also think they sound better than when they started. They are playing Nada Surf, Soul Coughing, Sonic Youth and acts that you didn't hear in the beginning, and have dropped the Nickelback / Hinder / Daughtry (really, they're all the same band). They're not quite as surprising and lack the depth of a station like the much-improved G Rock, but they're still pretty good. I would like them to let their jocks speak a little bit more - they don't have to chew your ear off like the ones at YSP, but it's not a bad idea. It would enable them to open up their playlist a bit more.

The flaws with this station are the dearth of new music (20 "Currents", including "new" songs like Muse's "Starlight" and Silversun Pickups' "Lazy Eye" - and no, they haven't added more recent tracks from either act) and the fact that they still play Train, All American Reject, Lifehouse, 3 Doors Down and latter-day Goo Goo Dolls - all acts the station would be far better off without. Everyone knows that you can turn on about 5 other stations and hear those acts all the time, so what's the point of playing them? None of these acts (exception being pre-Dizzy Up The Girl Goos) ever had any relevance on the Alternative format, so who would miss them?

Wow, Starlight by Muse must be like 2 years old now. They're still calling that new?
