I awoke at 2:05AM to loud thunder. So I decided to stay up and do some reading. I turned on my overhead light and put on my walkman. (set to Hot 93.7). Anyway about 22 after 2 I noticed a flash of lightning, the my overhead light dimmed, and 93.7 went off the air. I heard something else faintly. (perhaps WMKK?) About 60-90 seconds later Hot 93.7 Returned. Did WZMX's Tower Get Hit by Lightning?

Did WZMX's Tower Get Hit by Lightning?

They could have lost power at their transmitter site. Depending upon how far you live from West Peak in Meriden where their transmitter is the brief outage you saw could have effected them as well. It takes time for the engine to start up and the generator to start powering the load. Just a guess.

Yep. Mike FM is awful. I liked it better when it was Classic Dance Star 93.7 The Rhythem of Boston. 101 JACK FM in NYC is awful too. The only good station of that particular format is 95.7 BEN-FM in Philly. To me it sounds no different than MAX 95.7 and MIX 95.7 that used to occupy that frequency in Philly.

Mother Nature should come to Boston , There are alot of Awful Stations in Boston . ( 93.7,101.7,92.9,1090,590,1260,890,97.7 does nothing 4 waaf , and 96.9 craptalk ) . Thank God for Pirates and College Radio, in Boston .kms575 said:Maybe Mother Nature was trying to tell up how awful the station is?

Oh well...we DO have a cold front that's supposed to come through here tomorrow afternoon or evening. Maybe we'll get another chance? (LOL)
Can lightning just hit 107.3 primary tower permantly knocking it off the air...
