Did You Hear Oldies 1480

Ted just announced on WCIN that starting Monday he would be on the 6-10 AM shift. He said more info would come later. Guess Dusty is gone for quite a while

If it was because of the election, they would have said "it's because of the election" when he left. Instead they made vague "he's taking a break" noises.
Ted is old-school competent and knowledgable, but he isn't a morning draw.

I don't know about that. The loyal listeners who tune in won't care that much if Ted is at the mic. He is a well known quantity who the listener base knows and likes. I continue to wish that station well.

Joe London has been "filling in" for Dusty for several months. However his end of show comments this morning eluded that assignment is over. Obviously something is going on there. If Ted is now the new AM dj, I won't be listening... never liked his overly excited style. Maybe its time to get that Sirius/XM radio once and for all. 60's on 6... here I come.

Dusty will have opposition: The Hamilton County Republicans will annouce Sat in Sharonville at a fundraiser whom they will run. Might be Tom Brinkman-if not it was made clear that they will have a candidate to run.
Dusty could be on the air prior- at least six-months before the general election, however this year the Repbulicans are looking for an excuse-and yes Dusty is more conservative than most Republicans in county gov-but they will use the radio show against him-it's too easy for them not to use it as a distraction to his elected office. With the dislike of career politicians no one is immune I think Rhodes qualifies for the hit list as a career politican. After 20years and only running opposed twice this might be the year they try to really knock him out. Remember it's an off year and more Republicans and independents will be out than the Dem's (The big machine that put Obama in will not be energized this year or maybe?!) . Sorry for all the political stuff but it applies in this case.

I like Ted.
Me too...cool guy on and off the air.

Thanks for the in depth analysis, Dean.

I think Dustys "Star Power" will over come whatever the party tries to pull off.

You'd be surprised how that works with john and mary six pack.

Maybe he'll need to buy some spots from his old two frequencies, 1480 and 1160.

As a someone who has been in politics for years, NO ONE in Hamilton County will beat The King. I will never forget a campaign sign in '98, "MADERIA LOVES DUSTY!!!"

I don't have a huge issue with Dusty but I am tired of career polticos and would welcome some new blood. I don't know if enough people feel that way to overcome name recognition.

People complain about this yet the same names move up from city council, too county commissioner to state level or even central government Congress.

I don't care how good you are, after years of this you are going to be out of touch with reality.

I can no longer consider a lifetime filling elected or appointed government jobs to be "public service".

I heard WDJO jingles today on oldies 1480, does that mean they are about to make call letter changes ?
I have been hearing for months that they are making changes because they are closing on their deal with current owners of WCIN, of course that deal has been closing for the past year according to Dusty Rhoads. I hope they get it done soon they deserve to own 1480 now, it's the best sounding AM station playing 50's and 60's music that belongs on AM. Good luck Oldies 1480 or should I say WDJO ,we are happy to have you in Cincinnati, Luv the station.

Good for the Kauffmanns!!

They are now free to do as they wish with the station.

I wonder if anyone will be torqued about the WCIN calls going away.

Radio One should get the WCIN calls for 1230.

Way to go Brian and Dusty!

Been hoping and praying the deal would come through...now we can hear the rest of the 1480 jingles from now on!

I'm in agreement that the WCIN calls should go to AM-1230 and its connections to Cincy's African-American community.

We miss you out here Dusty...hope you're enjoying a well deserved rest and hope you'll come back on the air soon....yer' da man!

I thought something was going to take place today over at 1480 , I heard some new jock promos that included the WDJO calls. Congrat's to Alchemy for getting it done , they are replacing the WCIN calls with WDJO , I was listening a short while ago and still heard the WCIN calls probably for the last time on 1480 tonight, as their WDJO calls start at around midnight. Best of Luck to WDJO 1480 and all the jocks, I was not a Dusty R. morning fan, still sorry that he was not there for the switch over , I do wish him well in his re-election campaign, maybe he will be back on with the Oldies station after his campaign.

Now, if they could only "engineer" a better coverage pattern over the city at night!

A handful of FM translators would be nice as well...

I have no technical knowledge, but I do know for listeners in the eastern suburbs or out in Clermont and Brown counties, 1160 had a much better signal than 1480. From November until April it is virtually impossible to pick the station up before 9:00 AM and it has much interference after 4:00 PM. We could at least receive 1160 during normal daylight broadcast, even though we knew it went to low power at night. Many of us try to listen in the car and if we can't in the morning and can't in the evening, it certainly takes away listeners. Is it possible for a station to fix that problem without attempting to get permission to increase power? Are they allowed to "boast" or redirect the signal? I know you folks out there will know.
