Oh my goodness.....that word used on the radio was the "S**T"....word...Seems like ROPERS co-host slipped up on friday.....Jeff needs to keep a tighter leash on his girls..besides I thought the ROPER show co-host were to laugh when pointed to only? so what do you think the FCC would think???

Good question about what the FCC would think! The answer is... exactly the question you asked. The Commission is having a very tough time defining indecency in a way that the Courts would accept.

Is a slip of the tongue indecent? Is is pandering to the purient interests or was it an unintentional blooper? If you were in Kevin Martin's chair, would you call it out of bounds?

I guess the question is did anyone get it on tape?

Roper's latest co-hostess is a singer, not a radio person. But she's hot looking, so I guess that's how she got the gig.

I can't believe Chuck Howard got fired from WCNC Channel 36.

They show incidents like that on blooper shows. Now I figure if the people and stations involved consented, no one was fired or anything.

It was an innocent mistake for everyone except the newbie (supposedly) who was running the tape.

Here is the problem I have with this entire word thing. You can say ass and son of a bitch on television and get away with other things on radio as well, and personally I think all of them either should be banned or if they can say those other words, then why not what she said and it was more than likely a slip of the tongue since I was not listening last Friday morning. I listen to other stations as well as New 92 in the area.
Anyone who has to work with Jeff Roper day after day needs to use some language every now and then and I really don't see what all of the hassle is.
I can remember a time when you could not say damn on the radio and WCOS AM at the time was the only station here in Columbia that would play Bad Bad Lee Roy Brown by Jim Croce because it had damn in the lyrics, which by the way is one of my most favorite Croce songs.

Being from Atlanta I remember listening to Jeff Roper at night on WESC 92.5? Country? Great country station in the days of the late 80s. Is this the same Jeff Roper and is he still on this station?

Actually WNOK (AM) also played "Bad Bad Leroy Brown" as well as others with "questionable" lyrics such as "The Joker" by the Steve Miller Band....just fyi

Timeless Classics has played "Bad Bad Leroy Brown" for years. Someone complained about it to WBT back in the 70s.

Unforgettable Favorites played "The Joker". Now I didn't listen closely enough to hear the lyrics.

To continue on that point, can anyone explain how the network censors have somehow determined that it's okay to say "ass" on the air, but suddenly the word "hole" has become obscene and has to be bleeped?

Just axin'.

Nope, he's been on New 92 since January 2005.

Too funny Scott!

Regardless of the outcome of the suit, the lesson to be learned (which Top Chef's Tom Colicchio emphasized in one of his video blogs) is that displaying a temper at work is more likely to get you sued than venting on your own away from everyone else.
