Did you hear what David Lee Roth said?!!

HAHAHA I fell off the chair laughing at this one! I actually clicked, thinking that someone listened to his show, and DLR even had something important to say!<P ID="signature">______________

Got me too! I was impressed that DLR might have actually had a listener!

That was funny.
I thought I would'nt care that Howard was gone, but I listened to one week of the DLR show, and went out and bought sirius just in time for Howards 1st show. I am so glad I did, because not only is Howard awsome, but the music is incredible. Thank you CBS radio, and DLR for selling me a sirius radio. I will never listen to you again.

Reminds me, when Joey Reynolds was fired from WFIL in 1985 Ross Brittain was on Z-106 and did a song parody of DLR's version of gigolo "I'm Just A Big Ego Everywhere I Go"...Sounds like it could fit Roth now. I only heard part of his first week, so I'm not sure if the show has developed into anything. I too joined the world of satellite and with Howard all morning & so many other music choices all day it's hard to look back. I tried to tune over a few times and they were always in one of those endless commercial breaks...

The Jist of DLR

Perhaps the reason why none of Diamond Dave's listeners find him funny is because maybe because he is not trying to be funny. I have given Dave a listen and he sound surreal, and seems to want his listeners to get a glimpse of his life. I have not heard any famous guests or phoners on his show. Dave is a singer and an EMT, not a commedian. When in life has Dave ever been funny. We all knew he was EGO-driven, that's why he will always be the ONLY frontman of Van Halen that ever mattered, that's why he makes such a good performer. Don't any of you remember when VH was accepting their grammy or whatever award it was when they put out that best-of disc a few years back. Eddie's #1 Bitch-and-moan about Dave was that he was trying to hog the spotlight. Nobody ever called Dave funny, I am sure he is used to that. However plenty of people have called him a master showman. If you all continue to look for humor in Dave's show....get used to disappointment. Instead look for what you all know about Dave to come out during his new gig....radio drivetime host.

true, at least he is entertaining to listen to. Um, never mind, he's not entertaining either. That came to an end around 1985.

Re: The Jist of DLR

Personally, I've never dug Howard. Its just not my type of show. David's show is just much different then howard. I agree with the above post though. His show is more about life, as aposed to humor. I like david's show better. To each his own.

He's no Stern, but he's not trying to be.

DLR isn't going to be something I tune into on a regular basis, but then again neither was Stern. I have checked out Roth's show and was actually impressed with what I heard, especially given all the negative reviews he's gotten. He's not really funny, but he's really not trying to be. He does have a rather interesting background as an entertainer and more importantly he generally has something interesting to say. He's not Howard Stern, but to his credit he's not trying to be Stern. DLR isn't really like anything I've heard before on the radio before, but that's not always a bad thing...especially with all the Stern or Rush wannabees out there.

Re: Should have been "Host" & Roth, not just Roth.

It's too late now cause the DLR train is too far off track that it's now just going to run it's course...into the classic wreck it will be.

What should have been done is have a straight man "host" the show, set the pace and let Dave be "interesting". Roth is attempting to juggle 20 running chainsaws at once yet he thinks it's "not heavy lifting". If he started out juggling 3 nice soft tennis balls things would be different and the show would not be such a disaster.

If Dave is interesting, then give him a nice easy platform and a partner to play off of...too late now, cause judging by the response to this thread, no one listened past the first week any way.
