Didn't know where else to go, so I came here...

I know there are several radio insiders that come here. I've been a lurker for a year or 2. I really didn't know if there was anywhere else to post this, so I'm posting it on here. If I am in the wrong for posting it, let me know. Thanks.

Anyway, I have a Harris Professional Console, The Impulse. An ex-friend of mine and myself were getting an online radio station up. Things took place and it never went anywhere. So now I'm stuck with this very nice console that I would like to sell. I just want to know if there is anywhere I could try to sell it. I know of radio world, eBay, and craigslist. However, not sure if the right people actually look there. By right people, I mean radio people who make the decisions to purchase equipment.

The console itself is in very good condition, I have pictures if anyone would be interested. It was refurbished with new buttons and sliders by my ex-business partner/friend. I'm located in the North Shore as is the board.

Thanks for any input that any of you might have.

Gee, I wonder if we have an Engineering forum...

Yes. You'll find the Engineering boards near the bottom of the "Jump to" drop-down list. BUT, I'm not sure that the Engineering boards are supposed to accept equipment for sale posts any more than this board is supposed to. I don't know the site policy on this, but ISTR that you aren't supposed to post offers of items for sale. OTOH, I also STR a few such posts. Poses kind of a dilemma. If you ask the site management, they are likely to tell you that the site doesn't accept such posts (IF that really is the policy). If you don't ask, you might get away with posting them--for a while. If there is a problem, your "out of order" posts are likely to be removed and you will probably receive a private e-mail asking you to refrain from posting anything similar in the future.

Www.broadcast.net go to their classifieds, and post your console on Radio Shopper's list.

OR, send a listing to Radio World, they have used equipment listings.

Or just take the eBay route. A lot of broadcast pros mine the auctions looking for deals on gear. And don't forget to cover your shipping costs.

Yup, I'd do eBay. Protect yourself on reserve or opening bid, but in general it's a very efficient way to optimize what you get based on market value.

Broadcasters like myself watch for brands and descriptions from time-to-time when we need something. There are only a couple of problems for a newcomer. One is that buyers don't always like to buy from someone without a history. And the other is that I've seen fewer bids and lower prices lately for broadcast gear. Could it be... the economy?

You can also try Bay Country, they're a well-known (and well-trusted) reseller of used gear to the radio engineering community.

In all honesty, though, I'm not sure how much you'd get for it these days. Not many folks are buying mix boards at the moment...those few that are starting up new stations are generally doing so on a tight budget (mostly non-comm stations). Still, you never know.

If you do go the Ebay way, make sure you specify that you won't sell to anyone in Nigeria, India, Indonesia, the Middle East or ITALY!
Apparently Italy has very corrupt postage and customs officials and many parcels sent there never arrive. A large Ebay seller I talked to told me that 50% of the items they posted to Italy never made it to their buyers.

I sold an item to a guy in Italy and I am still battling Paypal to get paid for it after he claimed it never arrived.

Aside from this, Ebay is a good way to reach millions of potential buyers.

Thanks for the responses guys. I actually got one response from here, but in the meantime I'll try out eBay and the other sites. I am a member of eBay, but lack a lot of reviews. They're all positive, but not too many. So that will go against me obviously. So I'll definitely check out the other sites as well.

We use 5 of the Impulse boards here at Lotus Las Vegas, 3ea 20 channel and 2ea 12 channel. we might be interested in buying yours if the price were right. What size is it and what condition? Please reply off board.
