Difference between Hot AC and Bright AC

Can somebody explain the difference between Hot AC and Bright AC? Is there any difference? Would New York's Fresh 102.7 (WWFS) be considered a Bright AC?

I think the main difference is that a Bright AC often has a deeper playlist. Im not an expert on either format, but I think a Hot AC tends to lean more Rock from the 90s and today, while a bright ac will play both Softer AC titles, some 70s titles, and depending on the station they may play more Non Rap Rhythmic Hits than a Hot AC........ I think the old K-big in LA was basically a bright ac, while Star 98.7 was a hot ac.........Correct me if im wrong. ;)

WWFS is a Bright AC. A good idea of a Bright AC station is K-BEE in Salt Lake City, or 104.5 The Buzz in Albany NY.

Actually Star 98.7 used to be a Modern AC like the old Star 95.7 in Tampa Bay, and K-BIG used to be a Rhythmic Hot AC.

Thanks for the explanation! Are there any other good examples of Bright ACs?

The former KGBY Y92.5 in Sacramento, CA was the best example. KJKS 99.9 Kiss FM in Maui, HI switched from hot AC to bright AC. WFLC Coast 97.3 is another good one.

We consider ourselves a Bright AC station (KMJE- Sunny 101.5)
Musically we play cuts from the late 70' to now, as we are sensitive not to lean in a particular musical direction . We have a good mixture of alternative tracks (Nickelback, Buckcherry, Daughtry) pop tracks (Natasha Bedingfield, Kelly Clarkson, Gwen Stefani) with limited Rhytmic tracks.

Another key componnent is being safe for the family with everything we do, whether it is content contests, we have to make sure a mom wouldn't be embarassed to have their children listening to the station

Check out the website, www.gosunny.com , I'd love to hear some feedback.
