Different commercials on streaming feed

What is accomplished at the automation that "sends" a cue to the Web host server to play a different commercial, or set of commercials, than what is going out on the air? I can see how it could be accomplished in-house, having a separate switcher and audio source for the web stream, but we are understanding that many of the Web hosting providers are able to insert different ads, either for additional revenue or AFTRA requirements. I'll check out the recommended providers in a previous post, but just in case I don't get past the sales rep, I'm curious to know.

Thanks!

A switcher is not necessary. Most radio automation systems export song title and tag information that you can easily filter into your streaming audio encoder and then use the data. Spacial Audio makes a piece of software called Streaming Overlay Server (SOS) that uses that information from the automation system to fire locally trafficked breaks on the encoder itself. The SOS encodes the locally trafficked breaks instead of the sound card input which is your content.

Hope this helps.<P ID="signature">______________
