different stuff at lonestar

In the past two days I have heard a couple of songs that seem out of bounds for 92.5.

ELP- Still You Turn Me On
Barenaked Ladies - The Old Apartment

I LOVE both songs from two of my favorite groups, but they don't fit the format IMO.

Not that I am complaining, I like the extra variety. Does anyone know if they are expanding the playlist there at ZPS??

PD

...and speaking of changing our minds (see posts on D-F-DUB Party Station), we have this. Lonestar is a novel concept and should stay true. Barenaked Ladies? What... the lead singer remembers getting stoned at the Ghost Bar, ergo the Texas tie-in?!

yeah, aren't barenaked ladies canadian? they don't have a clue in their mind what they are doing over at lonestar.
if they could stick with something, maybe, i think it is a case of to many chiefs, not enough indians. (pardon the term that is probably not pc at this day and age.)

Looking at their log for today are a few things that don't seem to fit the niche...
Black Crowes
Counting Crows
Bonnie Raitt
Dire Straits
Robert Plant

Do any of those fir into southern fried country rock? BR maybe??

Black Crowes... maaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe with its kindred syncopation with Skynerd. Man, what is going on over there. Shotgun Willie lose some of his stash in the GM's office again? :p

Last few artisits played in order...
The Rolling Stones

Dire Straits

The Grateful Dead

Led Zeppelin

Johnny Cash

One of these things is not like the other...

Like I said before talk to Redbeard, he's in charge of the music over at Lonestar.

That actually made me laugh outloud... Sounds like someone isnt happy with the suits!!!!

Considering the "Check This Out" thread, maybe Redbeard is on his way out the door.

Depending on which dire straits, that's a very late 70's to mid 80's tune. The BNL is a mid 90's tune. Either way, looks like they're moving the 'rock' portion out of the 70's timewarp it's been in...

1979 if memory serves. Which using the standard formula, most likely to appear to a 45 year old.

Bracket that with BNL from 94ish, most likely to appeal to a 31 year old.

If this stuff keeps showing up, and we start losing the 'old' stuff (like early 70's) it tells me that that last down trend has hit home. And they're actively working to get younger at that position...
