Different Type Of Oldies Format

I Think I might have nailed an excellent Oldies Format

Its a kind of Oldies/Classic Hits Hybrid.

Features about even 50's 60's 70's mix.
Mainly Aiming at Rock N' Roll. But Features The occasional Soft Song.
A Good Dose of MoTown, Top 40, some pop, and a little bit of Soul.

This is the format that my station uses. along with Top of Hour News (3 minute) and Middle Hour News (30 second).

Not Sure if there is an official Name For This Type Of Format but i thought it was good :)

I am the morning drive guy on WKII AM-1070.
I play 50's-60's-70's (light on the 70's).
Criteria to play a song: IF it made the TOP 100 (weekly chart),
or if I like it and I think my audience might get a kick out of it (such as, "Do The Bumpsie" by Gary (U.S.) Bonds --- did not make the TOP 100).
Another example - "A Night With Daddy G" by Church Street Five.
I play all types of songs ... even Frankie Laine and McGuire Sisters.
Rolling Stones, Animals, Ike and Tina Turner, etc etc etc.
Doing very well, btw.

I like your choices.

Apparently a radio show's popularity with the public counts for zilch in some broadcasting companies!

CC terminated me yesterday ... I suppose to save my "huge" salary!

Helluva way to end one's broadcasting career after 42 years.
