Do they make good consoles? I bought one of the first ones in the early-mid 80's...big mistake. The specs said that with the input fader all the way down, it was at -60...every time a tape was rewound, it was heard on the air. The "monitor amp" was a 2 watt IC soldered directly to the circuit board. It failed often, and after a few replacements, the circuit board was toast. I hope and pray they improved upon that abortion...
Don't listen to these bitter old men, they don't know what they're talking about. I've used the Digilink-Xtreme for a couple years now with 3 of my stations and have only had great things to say. I doubt they have even used the product before. And I have never heard of anyone complaining about free software before. Unless someone actually says why the software "sucks" you really gotta take their comments for what's worth... nothing.
I sure wouldn't have one of their consoles, even if it were free to me. I can't speak of their automation systems as I have never had to mess with one yet.

I had a station in the early 90's with one of their 12,000 series consoles. If you touched the console frame with a static charge from your finger, the 5532 op amps would blow. I think we owned stock in the company that made 5532's. It had VCA faders, and as someone mentioned, bleedthrough and crosstalk was horrible. We replaced it with a Wheatstone A-500 in 1994, and I think it still is in playing fine today.
Arrakis has always been known as Arrakas***. I still ahve a DL 4 but the known problems of opening muted network feeds and when scheduling at random times will insert the scheduling hour into the live hour currently on air. Works a lot better with GotomyPC.
Arakis may have made great strides but has some issues. The consoles can only use certain 5532's. If you blow one by accidentally touching it some repalcement ic's will smoke other ic's. Not all 5532's behave normally in it. Always liked the newsroom rewind on the air.
