DIGITAL AM?

They already have the HD transmitter. All they need to do is operate in MA3 mode. And they are definitely interested in doing this. https://www.radioworld.com/tech-and-gear/digital-radio/takeaways-from-the-am-digital-order

But why now, with so few HD-capable radios in use, especially outside the car, and with no sign that a production/distribution/retail sales push is coming, nor any sort of promotional push that will get consumers talking about whatever product is available?

The 94.5 translator doesn't cover the entire market. The translator does pretty well in Bryan, but struggles in College Station's southern sprawl along William D Fitch Parkway (which has grown in the past 10 years since A&M joined the SEC). On some nights, the translator gets clobbered by that big city stick KTBZ (shout out to the now defunct Lawrence Marshall Chevrolet, which bought a ton of airtime in both the B/CS and Houston markets in their hey-day)

Unless they plan to put WTAW on 107.7 and move Peace FM to 94.5, I just don't see why they would disrupt their flaship station by essentially eliminating 1620 from the dial.
