Digital Skip! (Plus other catches of the day)

I've finally done it.

This afternoon, I made my first digital e-skip capture!

My Zenith DTT900 decoded, for about three seconds, KOTA-DT from Rapid City, SD. It covered a distance of 1,370 miles, approximately.

I tried to get a TSReader capture with my tuner card, but no luck. By the time I would jump and click "Tune" the signal would already be gone.

Analog catches:

KFDX-3 (right over local WBRA-DT)
KQTV-2
KUSD-2
KGAN-2
KTCA-2

KFDX, that is a very familiar target for most people down here in the South, along with KGAN.

KOTA, Girard Westerberg picked that up, as one of the better digital signals around, in 2004, the first digital E-skip.

I don't think I'd ever seen KFDX here. Especially now that I have a local digital on channel 3, it's a pain to receive anything on that channel. It's also a pain to receive the local digital.

I used to have lots of luck with 3 before WBRA-DT signed on. I'd see KSWK, KLNE, and KOET on a regular basis.

I saw when he picked it up and I was so envious! Now I've caught it too, and from a greater distance (did I break the record for DTV reception via e-skip?). I'm hoping to get better skip during the summer that'll allow me to get a full TSReader capture on it.

Skip from Houston is intense this morning, as KPRC is managing to overpower everything else, and I'm seeing a faint digital signal on channel 5, I'm guessing KPXB-DT. My WinTV-D shows a stable carrier offset between 0 and 1.25 kHz; I'm keeping an eye on my other receivers for anything from it.

Never got KPXB-DT before analogs started coming through.

My HD Radio is reporting an 89.5 with call letters KHRS. But the FCC site says KHRS is not only a silent CP, but is on 105.9. Any thoughts on this?

I live in Houston and I can't get KPXB DT-5, but you can get it in Virginia? Oh well, there is not much worth watching on ION anyway. This station seems almost impossible for most locals to get. KPXB is going to move to channel 32 for its final digital channel, though.

Yesterday, I did receive 101.3 FM KIKC from Forsyth, Montana here in Texas... see my separate post.. so things are booming into and out of Texas now.
