Digital Subchannels

You're in luck! I'm in the middle of attempting to compile such a list as we speak...

http://www.rabbitears.info/subchannels.php

It's a work in progress, but I hope it helps. Can't promise the accuracy of it at this point, I'm pulling from a number of conflicting sources and attempting to sort through them.

Glad I could help!

As of right now, it is as complete as I can get it. Of course, I can still add more information, like times that PBS stations turn their HD and subchannels on and off, and whether DD5.1 is being done, but for the moment, what's there is as complete as I have information for.

If you note any errors, either in formatting or in the list itself, do not hesitate to contact me about it.

I e-mailed you on Hartford/New Haven. In case you didn't see that:

WFSB-DT 3-2 is called "CBS 3" and is meant as Merideth Broadcasting's way of giving Springfield, MA their own CBS affiliate of sorts. "3" refers to cable channel 3, which many systems in greater Springfield carry the service on. It's also a low-power station, WSHM-LP channel 67, which transmits from Mount Tom in Holyoke, MA (to the immediate north in the Connecticut River Valley).

WFSB-DT 3-3 is Eyewitness News Now. It's mostly a weather service, but will also give news and an occasional traffic update. I think a state high school basketball title game may air on this same channel shortly.

WCTX-DT 59-2 carries the Storm Team 8 Doppler Radar from sister station WTNH-TV/DT (ABC). The audio is that of NOAA Weather Radio, possibly from WXJ42 from West Peak in Meriden (halfway between Hartford and New Haven).

Thanks! I've made the corrections. =)

Yo Trip--

Couple corrections mostly with regards to names:

Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB) channels xx.02 (KOPB/KTVR/KOAC-DT) should be listed as "OPB-SD" (substitute the main station's call letters for the OPB in this case) because these are simulcasts (for the time being--of OPB's main NTSC channels.

Also "Oregon Legislature" (channel xx.04) should be referred to as "The Oregon Channel", with "Oregon Legislature" in parentheses or as a side-note if necessary. Although it seems recently there hasn't been much Legislative stuff as there was about a year ago (I have yet to see tapes of the Government sessions from Salem lately............... ;o)

Other than that everything else looks complete. I can't comment on the screen resolution indications as my receiver (Panasonic DMR-EZ27) gives absolutely no indication beyond the presence or absence of letterboxing on the screen so don't ask me about that!

One last thing I need to point out--KTVR (13/5) and KOAC (39/7) broadcast from La Grande and Corvallis, OR respectively and may likely not be receivable over much of the Portland area, unless of course you have a *really* good antenna and may be skip-shooting and trying to make a logbook, but other than that........

(See also http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oregon_Public_Broadcasting)

Well it's quarter-after 17 and it's pouring down rain right now......gotta go, the trails and my bike are calling to me. Looks good Trip--keep it up.

The changes have been made to my page, which I will reupload after midnight EDT.

I moved KOAC to the Eugene market, as I saw reception reports in the Eugene market noting it. I know there's no chance of KTVR in Portland, but there's no point in making a La Grande section all by itself (with only KTVR in it), so I just stuck it in the Portland market.

Thanks for your input! =)

You bet--glad I could help.

One other thing worth mentioning is KOIN's secondary subchannel (06.02/40-02) is "mostly" a simulcast of their NTSC broadcast on channel 6, as well as being "mostly" a 480i simulcast of their 1080 broadcast on 6.01.

I say "mostly" a simulcast because for some reason or other KOIN tends to "black out" many sport events while they show on 40.01 or NTSC 6. (Lately I notice they haven't been doing that, however.....) I have no idea if this practise is specific to KOIN's digital feed or if Emmis does this with all its digital channels. Occasionally they will show other programmes that aren't seen on the main channel, for example a movie on 6.2 while 6.1/NTSC 6 show infomercials during the late-night hours on the weekends. (I wish some of the other stations in this area would follow KOIN's example there! ;o)
