DIGITAL TV RECEPTION ON CAPE COD

How is the digital TV reception on Cape Cod? What channels can you receive? I've seen TV station contour maps and most Boston and Providence stations don't seem to penetrate through much of Cape Cod.

TV reception on Cape Cod has never been very good. All you could ever really get was WLNE, and little WDPX on Martha's Vineyard. It's best to go with cable or satellite.

I camped in Sandwich MA (near entrance to the Cape and got a number of clear analogs on my HH TV. I imagine one could get some digitals (in some limited locations) with an 8 bay bow and amp but one would have to put up an expensive rig and hope for the best. And maybe get the worst.
Back in the 1970's my father in law (who hated cable) put up a very large VHF antenna, a seperate 4 bay bow (no amp), and rotor and had a number of clear stations on VHF. He even had his beloved Ch 3 Hartford for the news from back home. He had all those clear VHF's and he'd watch the 11 PM news on Ch 3. So so reception on UHF. Watchable stuff but not real clear. He was content with the set up. Why no amp on UHF I'll never know.
But this location (Harwich-mid cape) would probably be very poor as most/nearly all digitals are too far away for acceptable digital UHF reception.

I actually have noticed in past years that reception on the upper cape and outer cape was always better than it is on the mid-cape and lower-cape (Orleans). And if you can believe it, I think there are some old-fashioned hotels out on Cape Cod that still have very old TV sets with turn dials on them.
