Hands down Nexgen or the Player 101 depending on your resources. The rest are ok,but the key here is great 24 hr support.Lots of players(pardon the pun)here. Some folks are more tech savy, always a plus. Most sites have demo's.Go for it and evaluate it.You can buy the Wire Ready software and stations i know using it like it alot.SPL is a super product. But i've never been a fan of DJB,terrible support..Simian has lots of their software being used in stations.I feel the same way about software as i do antennas.Get the best you can afford and be done with it.I chose Nexgen and have never one day regretted it...

I like Audiovault. Flex does lots of new things and it is definitely setting itself apart from Prophet.

I have a 6 Station cluster on Audiovault. It only goes down if I do a software update or apply some windows patches.

1 of those 5 is running a Flex Beta (Since January). It is reliable, but has some quirks. I wouldn't suggest it for an entire cluster just yet, but it is really close.

Liked ENCO but let's talk support. The reason we changed. Support is only as interested as your market size. Often the issue seemed to be "your stuff" not ours.

Don't worry. I'm in a top 10 market, the stations paid a small fortune in annual support fees (enough to buy many of these other systems several times over) and I got similar answers from Enco. While you might pay them more to support your major market stations, I don't think they're any more interested in keeping you happy.

Thanks for the link. I will definitely check it out. While their pricing doesn't seem all that bad I know the high school campus-limited stations I work with would be hard pressed even with the discount offered - they could purchase two complete and separate StationPlaylist systems for the cost of one ControlReady system. With all the things positive I've heard about them I do plan on checking them out since it's another system that's closer to what many school stations can afford.

What's your budget. BE might let you build your own workstation and pay a software fee. Most places will be more flexible with a high school.

I ended up building the on-air and production computers out of discarded "obsolete" 1.8 GHz Pentium 4 desktop systems so the only outlay was for StationPlaylist itself. I think we ended up at just over $400 which covered the cost for both the on-air playback and production / scheduler component.

The budget I have is pretty much non-existent, and I'm using a donated 70's vintage Gates Stereo Statesman board, a Moseley TRC-15a to control the on-campus AM and FM Part 15 transmitters and some legacy audio processing. I wanted to get some AM and FM modulation monitors to teach the kids about over the air analog (as well as to give the kid a more realistic sense of being on the air). I was gifted a nice Belar RFA-4 RF amp but haven't been able to acquire either an AM or FM monitor set. When I say no budget I mean no budget!
