diner/bus driver/ barber listening report

The diner in South Bethlehem is locked into WLEV 100.7. This will not change.

The bus driver who was an older woman had on The Hawk today but turned it off right at the end of the Brain Damage/Eclipse by Pink Floyd. I was in the back grooving to the tune as it is one of my favorites but I could tell the bus driver did'nt like it. I sensed discomfort as she grimaced while driving North on William Penn Highway. Then lo and behold as she approached the Dunkin Donuts she defiantly switched the radio off. My stop was next so who knows what happened from there. Did she go to the Cat? Maybe she switched to WGPA!

The barber has been listening to Cat Country for a while now. There was a brief fling with the Hawk after WEST but now he seems to have settled for the Cat.

from the college radio perspective i was in yet another store the other day that was playing kutztown universitys radio station through that local television access channel that they're on in berks county channel 24 i think. the store owner had the TV behind the counter blasting and they were playing some smooth jazz piece and then it went into ZZ Top and then some oldies song by i think elvis presley. what a wild playlist. jack to an extreme.

i also heard WXLV on in a cafe the other day. another excellent sounding college station. the americana sounds great. professional liners and bumpers. sounded excellent. the dj was Burr Beard. i think he's the guy in charge over there. nice deliverly. he played Lucinda Williams.

The bus driver played Cat Country today. In regards to Lucinda Williams on WXLV there was a recent argument between WXLV and WDIY board members about the two stations playing her. PD Neil Hever of WDIY correctly pointed out that LW is a crossover artist who will fit in with WXLV's Americana format and WDIY's more variety AAA format. A certain board member hemmed and hawed but Hever put him in his place!

What about Berks? What commercial establishments in Berks are locked on WEEU, WRFY, WRAW, Frank or ESPN 1240?

I will get back to you about Berks County. And, Todd Mayor your anti-bias towards WDIY is obvious.

regarding Reading, for all the promotion that frank is doing with their stupid yellow billboards all over the county, i hear that Y is still kicking frank's butt. i think WEEU is even doing better than frank. perhaps what an earlier poster said about frank being more of a montgomery county station with their stick out that way is true.
