Ding! Dong! The Brunch is Gone!

The Brunch is Gone, The Brunch is Gone...

Dwyer & Mullen have resigned on the Sports Brunch. Will there be a replacement show at some future point? Or will there be much more of a future for the Fan?

In other unrelated sports radio news, it was really interesting to hear Daunic, Pogue, and McCann together last night on the Preds' post-game show on 104.5. I believe they said Saturday's Predators game would be on 560 and 104.5, unless the Zone was doing Vandy SEC play-by-play. Are more team-ups in the future for 560 and 104.5 personnel?

An adage says, "Any enemy of my enemy could be my ally." Considering the animosity between 104.5 and 106.7 (specifically Plaster vs. Fulton, Biddle, et al), and the ESPN affiliation rift between 560 WNSR and 106.7 The Fan, I would think the team-up you mentioned makes sense. WNSR would likely take any table scraps from The Zone, even if just for ratings sake. But The Zone has taken extra sports events (live hockey) to WKDF in the past.

No surprise about the Sports Brunch. For now I would think Colin Cowherd Show(ESPN) would fill the time slot. Blake Fulton's brief on-air rant a few months ago about slow sales and no station on-air promotions may have been a dirty laundry getting air. We shall see.

I did like the concept of "The Sports Brunch", with live local sports talk during that time of day, when every one else is airing either syndicated programming or REPEATS OF THEIR AVERAGE MORNING SHOW, I just didn't like the personalities hosting the show. I have ALWAYS found John Dwyer condescending and patronizing in everything he has ever done in this market, whether it is anchoring the nightly sportscast on channel 2, doing play-by-play for the Titans pre-season games and especially, hosting "The Sports Brunch". And Bryan Mullins role on the program was to agree with John Dwyer and the callers without having an orginial thought or opinion of his own.

They both are the biggest HOMERS in Nashville Sports Media when it came to the Tennessee Titans and Vanderbilt, in a town with such HOMERS as George Plaster, Frank Wycheck, Mark Howard, Blake Fulton and Hope Hines.
Edited by jwk1979 on 03/10/06 02:47 PM.

I stick by my prediction that things are changing at 106.7 as soon as the NCAA Tournament is over.
______________

I agree with you

This probaly been a behind the scene ploy

since last November

That's when I heard on this website that we might see the rebirth

of Rooster 106 in April

If that happens I'm all for it

I believe Doogie is no longer with 102.9 The Buzz

and he could be the lead off DJ

maybe he'll bring Bob & Tom or some other morning talk show host with him.

As a result of a soul selling pact with Lucifer, Blake Fulton will be the Rooster 106.7 morning jock. His show will be recorded and played back for a "Best of..." afternoon drive. Okay, maybe not that strange but a change at 106.7 would help.

Yeah... hire Doogie... because, ya know, THE BUZZ has such an incredible track record that you definitely want to suckle at that teat!

Doogie has always done good work. I speak from the perspective of first having heard him on the air and later working with him. He's a pro and would be an asset to any station's staff.

BTW, I worked for Cromwell a few years ago. Not the best working situation around, and that has nothing to do with the air talent.

I would agree about the working conditions... but, I would also say that I've never heard that "good work"... Unfortunately, everyone on that station sounds like its program director.

"Retro Buzz" was a well-done program. As I said, I worked with Doogie and he always puts a lot into his work.

I also know how Cromwell operates, so it doesn't surprise me to hear about some of their latest shenanigans.
