KFMX is the new #1 station in Lubbock
The Bear beats KLLL
Mix is a mess
Rap tumbles
Z up slightly

The Reaper has come and won.

I must confess you had me going. For a minute there, I thought something had happened at KYKX.

I was thinking the same thing about Jerry Russell's demise in Tyler, Pine Bluff and Mississippi. I wonder if anyone has any new information on that since we're on that subject. I have a gut feeling that KZEY-AM is many steps away from a takeover and it's not pretty.

Yeah...I'd be interested in knowing the scoop on that, too.

My bad. It's quite a bit of excitement around here. Should have posted the town. Greetings from Lubbock anyways....

Is KZEY still on the air? I haven't been close enough to it to listen, but last I heard it was silent. I have noticed that KOFY is no longer broadcasting dead air. There's no carrier. I guess the electric company must have pulled the meter. I doubt that it was the FCC, even though they haven't had a license in over a year.

Yesterday, KZEY and KOFY were both off the air. So, I wound up listening to KTBB, then WBAP, then 1400 KEBE. Then I remembered there was FM.

I made a recent trip out to Lubbock and was not too impressed with the radio scene overall. I listened to FMX more than any other station on the trip. I thought Kool sounded decent. I was not impressed with either rap station. STARS sounded terrible. The production quality sounded really good from the CC cluster. Yeah, the 99 folks have got to be a little pumped. I don't think that station has made a significant showing in the ratings since the early 90's. The Z folks may need to back up and punt...MIX definitely needs to punt..

I agree with rivercanoe...Lubbock radio isn't that great. This is why I listen to my iPod or CD player for the most part. i'll flip it on to the radio from tiem to time and z102 sounds ok i guess. As for the top station in Lubbock, FMX, I think they def. sound better than a lot of the other stations like Rock 101, mix, etc...but I have definitly heard better. Hot973 sounded pretty good before I went back to Dallas for half of the summer, but, when I came back to Lubbock in July, Hot didn't sound so hot anymore. The same goes to the Beat as well. Lubbock radio stations have pretty good DJs, but the stations certainly could do better on their playlist.

I'm glad someone finally agrees with me.

I think BVG needs to take "The Reaper" out for a few shots too, sounds like he needs a few...
As for Lubbock Radio, at least it's better than Lubbock TV, which doesn't even have a full time Meteorologist, unless you count John Robison. And will somebody at 11 please do something about the music and the set? The music doesn't fit the graphics, and I think that desk is getting ready to walk out and start its own show!

Funny... I just checked all 3 websites, and ratings have not been published yet.

What's to confirm? Wilks wanted to create parity among their properties in Lubbock, and they're coming close. One more book and LLL should have the same numbers Rock 101 has.

I was talking about Mr. Reapers' claims. Since I don't have numbers, anybody can come here and say "we're number #..." It is another thing to have the actual, er, you know, Arby's Sandwhich points...

On the other hand, I will be very glad if it is true that Wilkes created "parity" as you say, because why should KLLL get the advantage over others? Why? Just becaues a few people who have never been east of Guthrie want to hear country?

I'd like to see how Hot, and the Beat are doing?
