Ding Dong The With Is Dead

I hear "REDBEARD" is no longer with "LONESTAR 92.5" could a real talent be on the horizon hmmmm.....stay tuned !

The WITH is dead? With what?

I can't say I didn't see this coming, but it doesn't make it any less disappointing. I really enjoyed Redbeard's show and the 'In the Studio' interviews. The man has a feel for the genre, and brought many delightful surprises to the same old same old classic rock. I hope he lands on his feet. I think it's a loss.

*Disclaimer: This is an honest question, without meaning to sound snarky*

I listened to Redbeard in the early 90's, and he came off as generic to me then. So, my question is, what did he do that was 'legendary'?
Honest to God, I do not mean to stir emotions up, just wondering if I was just missing something.

Likewise, I never heard Redbeard in his 'glory days', but I went to the Farm Aid concert at Texas Stadium back in the early '90s. When Redbeard was announced and came on stage, he got applause. A lot of applause. I'd never seen a DEE-JAY applauded at a concert before. Usually they get booed.

Redbeard is a music fan, first and foremost, and that is what appeals to me. He was great with Q102 in the late 80's-early 90's, and I enjoyed listening to him on KZPS on my way home from work. This is very disappointing to me.

Redbeard put all the pieces together. Good air sound, industry connections (artists and trade press), production savvy, interesting look, reclusive nature. He created an aura of coolness for himself that transcended the bland liner card radio he was asked to do. He was mysterious and left people wanting more. He did what most radio stations seek to do through imaging: he used smoke and mirrors and legerdemain to mold audience perceptions.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh...now I get it..."In The Studio "With" Redbeard"....In the words of your earlier post about Redbeard being hired..."Yawn". Don't quit your day job.

Love him or hate him, Redbeard knows his stuff. Most impressive is that he knows his stuff without being arrogant about it.

His being let go had nothing to do with his ability, and everything to do with the forthcoming changes on 92.5. They said from the beginning that it was an experiment. Evidently, the experiment did not work out the way they had hoped (big revenue).

never liked the "with", still don't. Better off without the "with". Still, liked the concept ZPS went with but never had a plan if it didn't work. Even JACK had a plan to mold the music, before the music got moldy. ZPS should have been prepared to adjust and bail out if it didn't work.

Chalk this one up to lack of vision. By the way, with a hiring freeze in place, which board op is taking over afternoons?

I am curious to see if it will be VT from Houston, also.
