direct links for Winamp?

who of all of the radio company's have direct links to there streams?
I know for CBS radio if you put
http://provisioning.streamtheworld.com/pls/*InsertCallLettersBand*.pls
for instance:
http://provisioning.streamtheworld.com/pls/wxrkfm.pls
brings up 92.3 in NY.
I can put that link into my Winamp open URL box and it will start to play the station.i'm pretty sure its TheStreamCenter.com that has the direct links to stations, though not all of them use Winamp.Do any other companies have something like that that you can paste right into Winamp without having to use a popup web player? do any of them include the web offerings such as the Christian web station on CBS or HD 2's or 3's from clear channel or Delmarva?
Thank!

i would say to get the free app called Tapin Radio and use the search function to find your favorite station and the play it and then there are right-click options and a few other options that will show you the stream URL that you need....they have about 90% of the terrestrial U.S. radio stations already in their database and about 19,000 worldwide at this point...its a fantastic app and you can search by country or state or any keyword also.....do update the Tapin database before you begin searching though - (its an automated update from within the program)...

as far as streamtheworld, there are a few different formats but usually
they end like this:
xxxxFMAAC.pls or xxxxAMAAC.pls

where xxxx or xxx is the call letters (WXRK)

the AAC should give you the highest quality stream (48-64k last i checked)
but there are streams w/out AAC for some stations that might be 32k....

there is also a Reciva webpage that will show the format for many of these streaming
companies like liquidcompass, surfernetwork, cumulus, abacast, etc - you should be able to find it if you search even though they closed theyre forum lately....

btw, even Clear Channel stations URLs have been solved if you use this format:

http://www.surfmusic.de/media/kfi-am.m3u (KFI-AM-640 Los Angeles)

http://www.surfmusic.de/media/knew-am.m3u

that site will return you an address like this that works:

http://knew-am.akacast.akamaistream.net/7/316/19799/v1/auth.akacast.akamaistream.net/knew-am

good luck...

This must be an iOS only app because I can't find it on Android Marketplace :(

Cheers & 73 :)

Um. i have a flip phone, and just lookin for a way to play them on either my Desktop or laptop. Thanks for the info though, the Reciva works well.

eh, Tapin is on Windows only at this point. its on Raimersoft website iirc. there's also RadioSure on Windows which is kind of similar but has a little bit nicer GUI. on ubuntu my favorite is Radio Tray but it doesn't have any preset database.

idk much about Android or smart phone apps.

Yeah it does - If you don't mind not being able to search by country, genre or language

Thanks but I'll stick with either Tapin Radio or SurfMusik if not the websites themselves. More organized that way :)

You don't know what you're missing then. With my smartphone, I can tune into HUNDREDS of OTA radio stations from all over the world (THOUSANDS if you count the Winamp & Live365 apps)

You can also watch live TV & live cams on a smartphone (Try doing THAT with that flip flop job of yours ;D )

Cheers & 73 :)

For those who don't have Winamp: I find that if you download the "provisioning...pls" file to your hard drive, and open it with Notepad, you'll get at least three unique streaming URL's, each of which is easily playable in Windows Media Player or what have you.

@TBZ: Thanks for the surfmusic tip! I'll have to use it the next time I'm in a bind for a specific CC stream link. ;)

This isn't just for CBS stations. Here's a list of all the companies I know that go through Streamtheworld, The former Citadel stations now owned by Cumulus, CBS, Entercom, Townsquare, Beasley Broadcast Group, Journal Broadcast Group, Lincoln Financial Media, and Alpha Broadcasting. I feel like I'm missing several, but that should give you about 500 stations to choose from.

There don’t seem to be any such free apps for Mac OSX that I can find, there are paid apps that can also record a stream. If anyone knows of an app I’ve missed, please speak up.
