As much as I am sure DIrect and Dish would love to drop the former PAX network from their services, I don't believe that will happen. If they dropped the national PAX channel they would then e forced to carry all the local PAX O&Os which would be an even bigger waste of bandwidth.

They are officially dropping the national PAX channel and all (or most) local Pax affiliates. See link:

Didn't see that coming.

How long til Pax demands must carry? For ALL their stations? Or can they now?

And why was WBNA dropped, or even being carried without must-carry? Last I checked, WBNA was not owned by Pax and did their own programming at times. Perhaps this has changed.

WBNA is owned by Word Ministries and is operated by PAX on
something called a time-brokerage agreement at certain hours.
WBNA still continues to have its' own programming (largely
Christian) in the early to mid-morning and late-night hours.

While the announcement is worded in such a way as to sound like it has already happened, I am still getting "i" on 255 and KPXN/30 as of this minute ...

... not that I consider it any great loss.
______________

How about added the new network of the national CW network on directv channel 255 if it works to replace (I) PAX channel??? I know it way too soon for that if your local tv stations in your area doesnt have a UPN/WB network. That sounds like a good idea to me if the CW crew sit down to make a deal to put the national CW network on directv.... I dont know about dish network...

I read on another board that the change is taking place March 1.

Given that the national feed of The WB was never on satellite, I doubt The CW will be. That feed would benefit very few people in any event, as the network will be on enough must-carry local stations at launch anyway to reach the vast majority of viewers.

I'd rather see American Life TV as a replacement. (crossing fingers)
______________

I'm with here, K.M. When I had Time Warner cable locally, I would tune in to Goodlife/American Life TV every now and then, they had some pretty decent shows there. About The CW, if they wanted to put a national feed of that network on satellite, you might as well as put CW programming on Superstation WGN, as they did in the early days of The WB.

I think that will be kool if WGN superstation will join the CW network. Right now WGN superstation is not that good everytime I tune to that channel with movies and old tv shows plus bulls and white sox and cubs games on WGN superstation....

Not going to happen, It would cause problems with local CW stations on cable and satellite. CW will only be seen on the local WGN-TV station. Is why they had to drop The WB on there national feed.
______________

It's too late. The window closed last October. The next opportunity comes in 2008.
______________

From what I read on the DCRTV.com site, Direct was able to drop all the PAX o&os because PAX FORGOT to file for renewal of their station's "must carry" on Direct. After the deadline passed, there was no reason for Direct to worry about having to carry all the PAX stations so they also dropped the national feed. I wish my cable service would drop PAXsat and put something decent on....

I couldn't find that item at DCRTV. I suppose it's possible it's already gone into their archives.

Anyway - if this is true, it is yet another bad move by i management. Must carry is one of the few things the i station group still has going for it.

On the other hand - if someone buys any of the i stations, this will at least give them a fresh start on DirecTV as a "new" channel in 2008.
