Direct TV HDMI Problem?

Not sure where the best place to ask this question. I was wondering if anyone else with Direct TV HD has this issue. I have a Direct TV HD (no dvr) box, have it hooked up from HDMI, to my Visio TV. Just recently, seems after this last few firmware updates they did, I get a purple screen, with no audio. I googled this and people say it is a hand shake issue between the HDMI cable. I also have RCA cables hooked up to my stereo to watch with my headphones at night. Any one have any suggestions over this?
Thanks in advance!

I assume your TV runs normally with an OTA signal?

Your RCA cables should not cause any video problems unless perhaps they are plugged into the wrong source.

If your DirecTV box has an SD output try using that and see if the video issue is gone. If problem is there only on HD buy another cable and test with that. HDMI cables can be had for under $10. Don't get sucked into the retailers trying to sell you one for more than that.

If you're still having the problem, try your question at satelliteguys.com under the DirecTV forum. I have DirecTV and any question I have they answer. They may be able to help you.

Thanks for the info, I am trying it with the Native setting On. And will see what this will do. Yeah the OTA channels are fine when the Direct TV signal is all purple on the HDMI. If this happens again I will go out and get another HDMI cable.
