DirecTV Could Cut More Than Just G4

Of course. The cable and satellite companies get paid for carrying them.

It's just business. He is staking out his negotiating position before contracts
with other channels come up for renewal.

It will be interesting to see if any of those up for dropping are any of the countless infomercial channels or the many religious channels. I doubt it. Also, if they drop channels and don't have to pay for them anymore will the rates go down? I know the answer to that....

I'm not sure why people think that infomercial channels, shopping networks, and religious channels are going anywhere. These are the channels that are not only NOT costing any money, but actually GENERATING revenue for the company. The call in numbers on many, if not all, are set up to track how much money someone spends, and then the cable companies get a cut of that money.

I don't like them either, but without them our cable bills would go up even more, as I doubt they would just sacrifice that profit margin.
