DirecTV Giving Away Deals To Viacom-Less Subscribers

My take: satellite tv, the telcos (like AT&T and Verizon) and streaming services have made disputes like this a big problem for whatever provider is involved. You pretty much always have choices. If your favorite channels are taken off your provider, you can just switch providers and usually get a decent deal to do so. Or, your current provider will make a deal to keep you until this dispute is over. If you didn't have those options, you wouldn't see these battles for subscribers going on. When cable had monopolistic franchises in cities, you didn't have those choices and the networks didn't have a whole lot of choice about who they dealt with to get their programming into as many homes as possible.

Will these two sides eventually come to an agreement? Yes, of course they will. Will it take a month or two? Maybe.
In the meantime, consumers have the opportunity to benefit. Competition is a great thing.
