DIRECTV MOVES 3D CHANNEL TO PART-TIME

3-D will never go away. It'll just resurface every decade. Just like it has since the 50's and that Black Lagoon creature crept forth.

Now Smell-o-vision is where the future of television is at!

Back in 2000, Carl Stalling said it'll never work. ;D

I don't think 3D-Television will ever work until they get rid of the glasses completely and it's in HD quality. Of the 3D that I've seen, I will admit it looks nice, but it's not something I would actually go out and buy. Not really into 3D as much as I was into HD; plus, it really didn't look "HD" to me (which is why I said it needs to be in HD quality.)

3D TV is a technology in search of a market. There was no clamor for 3D TV that gave rise to its existence.
It happened because TV makers were looking for ways to get ahead of the curve. They saw the surge of 3D movies in theaters (Avatar being the biggest) and thought they had to get in on that to keep growing the audience for big televisions. It's understandable, but there really was no demand for this technology. The biggest problem is that that cost of this technology for the consumer is too big for the benefit it gives them.

My view is that 3D movies on TV would be find if you could make it an extra disk in a DVD box or something. Come up with a way to have the technology work without changing your TV. That wouldn't be hard to do and I think the results would be the same.
