As a side thread to the BPM fans hate the channel thread, DirecTV have replaced all the SiriusXM music with Sonic Tap as of 09 Feb 10. The dance stations are just AWESOME!!!! (I'm not sure if this is also who the cable companies use for their music channels, but it is new to me hense why I started the thread)
Their main dance station (just called Dance but is on the same channel as BPM was on) is just off the hook! It sounds just like what BPM would sound like if Allan were still running it! - here is a sample for those of you who do not have DirecTV. Here is the description of the station according to DirecTV - Heart pounding, high intensity remixes of today's hottelst bass-kickin' club releases. Styles include Vocal House, dance-pop and Euro-Energy. Consistently Kinetic!
Hannah - Shadows on the wall
Trilogy Project Vs Angelstar - Last night (Bassmonkeys radio edit)
Richard Grey vs. Eric Morillo - Say the word (Nicoleda Silva radio mix)
Micheal M. - Let ya have it (Klubjumpers Radio Mix)
Shiny Toy Guns - Major Tom (Adam K and Soha Radio Mix)
Kelly Clarkson - Already gone (Bimbo Jones mix)
Carmen Perez - Overload (Chris Panaghi Radio Edit)
September - Can't get over
Shaun Baker/Maloy - Give! (Sebastian Wolter original version)
Lasgo - Gone (Sebastian Dali remix)
CC Owen - Stars Align (Starry Eyes Remix)
Other dance category stations are with their DirecTV description (which are very well written and very descriptive):
Zen (replaces Chill) - It's lke taking a spiritual journey to a local lounge bar. Zen is relaxng, meditative voyage through Eastern vibes framed by Trip-Hop, Trance and Drum and Bass
Subterranean (Replaces Area) - This hip, forward thinking, high energy sound draws from a broad range of dance, rock, pop, electronic and Indie.
Modern Workout (New Channel) - This eclectic urban blend combines current and old school stylings with a more refined urban Hip hop groove. Constant 100-110 beats per minute.
Pump! (New Channel) - High energy pop/rock hits from the 70s, 80s and today with just a splash of 90s (whatever that means). Steady 125-135 beats per minute will keep you pumped up.
Interestingly, DirecTV has placed Retro Disco in the R& B category after the Soul channel and the Funk channel (where it belongs in my opinion)
This is more major exposure for great dance music again!
Edt: Just saw this is being discussed in the new gen thread, but I am concentrating it on the dance channels here)
