Disappointed in WYRB being Rhythmic

Time will tell if it works, but alot of the pop tracks are being spun on ZOK. Can Rockford handle a true Urban Mainstream?

Re: WYRB website

Word! said:

1. It's about time they got a website. Now they just need to work on streaming.

2. The most recent ratings seem to indicate that the Rhythmic format is working much better than Urban AC did. They are very close to catching ZOK 12+ which probably means they are beating them in the younger demos. The fact is, there are a lot of popular songs that just didn't get heard much on the radio in Rockford, if at all, after Hot 105.9 went away which leads to the next point.

3. ZOK, like most Cumulus CHR's, is very conservative musically as they tend to be Adult leaning CHRs. If ZOK is programmed the same way KBEA Quad Cities, IA/IL and some of the other CHRs they own in the midwest are, then they and WYRB may only be sharing 11 of the 30 songs on the playlist that was posted.

Hmm I see.
Since WPWX finally actually isnt afraid to say "Hip Hop" in their positioner (after 10 years) Crawford isn't afraid of having urbans unlike most companies who want to "play it safe" and go Rhythmic.... which is why I didn't understand they went with Rhythmic since the market really needed hip hop but it is what it is.
