Disc jockey's from the past

Does anyone know how Ernie Myers, Rick Martel, Jerry G. Bishop, is doing now? and why Ernie Myers isn't handicapping at Delmar the last few years? I went to Jerry G's Itallian Restaurant at Seaport Village and they haven't seen him in almost two years.

I saw Jerry G at the Greek restaurant within the last two and a half years since I moved back from Kansas. But he was ailing: I don't remember what it was, but he was hurtin'. He deserves to stay at home: he's had his Greek Island Cafe for more than 25 years and the Italian place for maybe 20 and he put in a lot of hours behind the counter over the years.

Last I heard, and it was some years back, Rick Martel was managing the NBC affiliate, I forget the calls, in San Luis Obispo. I remember him doing the all night shift at KOGO in the 60s. Seemed like a real nice guy.

I don't know about Ernie Myers, and I hope he's well, but I remember him as the President in the film "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes". Not too many better places to spend a day than Del Mar.

The Great Ernie Myers suffered a stroke while at KPOP, his speech has been slowed down, and he is no longer capable of being on the air. From time to time Ernie shows up at Shotgun's on a Saturday night. But Ernie still does drive a car.

While living near SLO in the mid 80's I used to see Martell as an anchor on KSBY CH.6. Vacationing there in the mid 90's he was still doing anchor duties there.

Ernie Myers taught me how to play golf, smoke cigars and bet on horses. What a guy!

Now that's what I call a real role model! What a guy, indeed! :) :)
