Dish Network Dumps 'The Weather Channel'

Dish will do anything to save a dime. I had them for years and was reluctant to
switch to Direct Tv, but DTV is a lot better. They offer more channels and it takes
a really big storm to knock out the signal. With Dish a medium rain and it was off.

I like the weather channel. Weather without people is like reading the news to
yourself (without anchors).

That's a good point. They always have the guy standing in the hurricane
trying to hold on..........breaking news at it's best (not). Sometimes we
have bad weather here and they're consumed with a lone thunderstorm
in New England or winds in Colorado, but when Kansas gets bad weather
they're all over it. Do they not care about us????

In the event of dangerous weather locally why even tune to The Weather Channel? I'd turn to the local stations first. The Weather Channel is to big of a brand to focus on 1 city during severe outbreaks. Yeah they have went down the drains as out lately, but I've always depend on Ken and Glenn Burns.

IMHO, the Weather Channel has become increasingly irrelevant. A process already underway that's subsequently accelerated since NBC took over. Who needs cable TWC when you can get up to the minute local info, live radar, etc., on your computer or smartphone? Or you can buy a weather radio for twenty bucks....or stream NWS broadcasts in many, if not most, locations.

Twas nothing more than a negotiating ploy. Dish has a new long term agreement with the WC. WC will create a second channel to provide Dish subscribers with "local" forecasts. The "Weather Cast" which was supposed to replace WC, lasted but four days.
