Disney Channel to simulcast on Radio Disney this Friday

Why?

Most TV sets have stereo capability. Furthermore, most of Disney's stations are AM mono stations, and given the time, many of Radio Disney's core audience won't get the stations after the sun goes down, as they would operate on lower power and a directional antenna.

I think the main reason the simulcast was happening is that Disney is providing at least a tangible audio of the film for markets served by Time Warner or Bright House, which would lose the Disney family of channels (including ESPN and ABC's O&Os), if a settlement is not reached tomorrow (9/1).

In addition, Radio Disney is carried amongst the dozens of channels offered by Music Choice.

Not anymore -- Music Choice dropped Radio Disney in 2007 in favor of their own music channel for kids, "Kidz Only!".

I think most of the Disney O&O 'Radio Disney' stations were AM Stereo. But they changed back to Mono after they turned-on 'AM HD' because I believe a station can not transmit with both AM Stereo and 'AM HD' at the same time.
