Disney gets a big thumbs up!

I am very impressed with the Walt Disney Company and their choices for songs in their movie soundtracks lately. In just the past year the following obscurities have been resurrected for the American public to hear again either covered or in original form..."Shake A Tail Feather" (the Cheeta Girls recorded the Five DuTons R&B hit from 1961 for "Chicken Little") "Wild Child"/"Wild One" (both Jerry Lee Lewis and Bobby Rydell songs were fused together for "The Wild" soundtrack in tween rock form) "Woo Hoo" (The Rocketeens instrumental Top 20 from 1958 was among many of rock and R&B classics in the soundtrack of the live-action "Glory Road""Route 66" (both Chuck berry's and a kicking re-record-can't remember band-will be featured in "Cars" along with "Sh-Boom" by the Chords from 1954)Excuse me while I applaud Disney for proving that the music from the first generation of Rock N' Roll is definitely still relevant.

Let's not forget all of the Elvis Presley clasics in "Lilo and Stitch" Radio Disney is very much teen pop inspired by the teen pop of our "top 40" baby boomer era.Hugs to Hilary Duff and her cohorts....Are you listening Clear Channel? Radio Disney is not heard on any Dayton/Springfgield/Miami Valley stations. Perhaps this would give an opporitunity for WIZE to go back to its pop roots as an alternative to simulcasting WONE "980 Homer."

Yes, props to Disney. But also let's remember that those songs are A LOT cheaper than today's songs. Cost for rights, for the big screen, as well as dvd, are expensive. That's why oldies are used in commericials and soundtracks. They're cheaper. As well as recognizable for young and old. Timeless Classics.
