Disney's "High School Musical 2" breaks ratings records

I think the reason Disney's "High School Musical" series has done well is because of the excellent marketing at Disney Channel.

At every commercial break they have a feature or song from the movie. They build up the excitement and anticipation for the movie. And the strong cast helps too.

They don't sell advertising but use the entire channel to promote Disney movies, DVDs, and TV shows.

Yes, MarkL. We know they use their in-house advertising to their advantage and beat the damn show into the ground. A small portion of my cable bill goes to pay for that crap? NO THANKS! :(

I have never seen either show, but from what I know both programs are pretty decent musicals without a lot of immoral garbage in them. I think it's funny that the shows that do "surprisingly" well on TV nowadays are typically the ones without a lot of violence, sex, or profanity.

Perhaps the networks should sit up and pay attention. Don't get me wrong, I love shows like 24 and House, but I wish the network prime time was a bit cleaner.

Amen to that person who posted this!, This is the reason why i don't watch much
prime time television these days, except for the game shows.
