Dissapointing HD in Austin

So I added HD to my car, and am kinda saddened by the choices we have here...

95.5-2 - Oldies. Sounds good if you like oldies, and is apparently programmed locally.
96.7-2 - "New" CHR. Oxymoron, I think. New Hit Radio verses what? Not as new hit radio? Waste of side band.
98.1-2 - Texas/Rock Country. Not bad, but not local.
100.7-2 - "New Country" Not bad, but not local.
102.3-2 - Christian CHR - Decent, but too close to the Christian Hot AC of 102.3-1
103.5-2 - Jazz - Different. Appears to be local.
105.9-2 - Tejano. No clue. Don't know Tejano.

Everyone else is not in HD: 93.3,93.7, 94.7, 101.5, 104.3, 104.9, 107.1, 107.9

Am I the only dissapointed one?

I've been trying for over a year to get KHFI to change their top 40 side channel I think it is a waste of bandwidth when the main channel is just the same. I would of liked to see a dance channel come on the side channel. KGSR sounds really good in HD. I havnt tuned in their HD-2 channel very much.

yes i am, i was looking for stations that would have classic rock from the 60-80's ( no heavy metal and no poppy), oldies.

I have yet to see an HD radio for sale at a mass-market retailer and I don't know of any factory vehicle radios that have HD capability.

Considering that HD listeners probably number in the hundreds at this point, it's not surprising (or illogical) that stations aren't programming HD signals uniquely or locally.

Yes the newer luxury cars come with hd radio examples Lexus.

That will help. I still stand by my original point, which is that HD radio is a few years away from reaching the tipping point where it is considered an important part of a station's revenue stream. I don't think we're even quite there with HDTV yet and it has had a few years of head start on radio.

It might be years until we actually see HD thrive. Ford is also going to make HD radio an Option for some of it's vehicles. An Option, not standard. This means that not a lot of people are going to spend an extra 100 dollars for an HD radio. Same thing with Lexus, they are optional (meaning at extra cost) last time I checked.

Actually.. with the exception of 105.9-2, all of those stations are programmed locally. They're programmed by the same programmers who program the main channel...

What happened to KHFI? Their HD has been off for a while now.

Jay Shannon realized KHFI-HD2 was the exact same stations has KHFI-HD, just on tape delay, so he turned it off.

Took him this long to figure it out?
