Distortion From Voice Of Korea, Pyongyang

They've been sliding downhill for the last 6 months or so and they were already cruddy enough.. not quite to the level of Cairo and cuba but theyre about there.. this doesn't appear to affect all their language services though.

Here's a video I shot showing how bad it's gotten in Pyongyang.

Sounds pretty bad, especially later in the clip.

I haven't heard them distorting that badly. Although I don't hear them every morning or evening, and a lot of distortion on SW can be due to propagation.

Prob can't get the Russian power tubes and the Chinese ones are crap.
Some of the Svetlana tubes were unlike and incompatible with any American / European standards. Changing tubes meant a significant redesign of the transmitter, right down to new tube sockets.

This appears to be one particular languiage service... cuse i had the same distortion on 9870, 11635 and 11910. .but 13670 was fine.. and not all their stuff sounds this bad... but its de. on their end and not due to propagation.

I kind of like their music. It's different. And well put together, actually. They have a great bass player.

Makes me wonder how the lives of those musicians really are.

Svetlana tube were/are garbage. Made the mistake of installing one in a Harris HT35 transmitter. Made output fine, but discovered there were suddenly lots of harmonics being generated too.
