Diva - New Orleans

It's probably safe to say Diva in New Orleans isn't back on the air, and probably won't be for weeks. There's been so much coverage over the mess in New Orleans and Biloxi/Gulfport, I haven't seen anything regarding Diva in Baton Rouge, or the conditions in Baton Rouge for that matter. Any chance they are on backup power yet, or is that area still an unrecoverable mess too?

Additionally, New Orleans tv station WDSU is off the air, but they've set up shop at a sister station in Jackson, MS and have been providing a live web feed via their site with live coverage of events in New Orleans (depending when you watch). Last night they were running a feed from MSNBC, then today they were working a fundraising telethon with sister station WESH in Orlando, FL so I guess it just depends on what time you tune it.

Come to think of it, it's too bad Diva didn't have a web stream, at least they could maintain some sort of presence that way.

Your joking right? Whos going to listen to the station in New Orleans?

There's a large number of evacuees staying out of town with friends and relatives who have internet access. I was suggesting that some of Diva's loyal listeners might have turned to them as another source for some news and information coming out out of New Orleans.

I dont think they are worried about a dance station in New Orleans. There are plenty of other places they can get their news from.

It looks like both Divas (WDVW & WCDV) made it through the storm, and are simulcasting AM 1300 WIBR. Or, that's what I can gather from the limited information available.

To clarify, at least the transmission facilities (i.e., transmitter and tower) made it through.

Stations such as WDVW could prove valuable to that metro right now, since they might be avoiding some of the problems that downtown stations are having with the power limitations, since they are beaming in from outside the area.<P ID="signature">______________

Good to know, thanks. I believe WDVW's studios are in central New Orleans, just a few blocks from the Superdome, in fact - that's according to a mapquest link they have on their site. I wasn't sure about the tower.

I would say their Diva is the least of their concerns. The radio stations can be brought back to life, That isnt true, for all of Vicitims who lost their lives, which, some were undoubtedly Diva Listeners. N.O does have some Club Activity, so im sure that some of the casualties were undoubtedly Dance Fans. Its just Tough times in this world right now. If I could have helped, I would.

Your not allowed to talk about Diva, Sirius or any complaints about Dance music according to CHRles! Just don't even think of it or your considered insensitive.
